As the owner of SOTA Electrical, with 20 years of experience in the trade, including a 4-year apprenticeship, I’ve seen and worked with a lot of products over the years. I didn’t exactly plan to become an electrician—I sort of fell into it, really. School wasn’t my strong suit, but when the opportunity came up to apply for an electrical or mechanical apprenticeship, I took it. After some aptitude tests and advice from my boss, I chose to go down the electrical path, and it’s been a journey ever since.

To any apprentices just starting out, I’d say it’s not always going to be easy. My own apprenticeship wasn’t something I enjoyed at first. I didn’t get on with anyone, and I didn’t want to go to work nearly every day. But the key is to stick it out. Life can be tough, and the trade is no different. Four years of hard work is a small fraction of your life, and once you’ve made it through, you’ve got the trade for life. You’ll grow thick skin, learn a lot about yourself, and come out stronger on the other side.

When it comes to the tools and products I use, Lewden is a brand I trust. They produce some really good gear, and you’ll be seeing more of their products in my installation videos in the future. I’m particular about the products I use, and I wouldn’t recommend anything I wouldn’t use myself. Lewden’s quality and reliability stand out, and they’re becoming an increasingly important part of my work. Keep an eye on my socials, and you’ll see plenty more Lewden products in action.
